Give your dog freedom to roam safely while you're camping! The Ruffwear Knot-a-Hitch is a dog-tethering system that gives your dog freedom to sniff & explore while you're setting up camp, cooking dinner or relaxing in the evening.

Designed with car and caravan camping in mind, the Knot-a-Hitch system by Ruffwear uses climbing-inspired parts & hardware.

Key Features of the Ruffwear Knot-a-Hitch

Strong, 7mm reflective Kernmantle Rope that's 8.7m long - it can be set up between two trees or secured to a single post- the rope is strong, supple and reflective
An easy-to-use, 'auto-locking' tensioning system similar to what rock climbers use. It is quick to set up.
A secure, locking carabiner to secure your dog's leash to - the carabiner moves freely up & down the line. Plus it swivels so your dog's leash is kept twist & tangle free (note: leash is sold separately)
Convenient and durable stow bag for easy storage. You can also use the bag to store excess rope tails if you don't need the full length of 8.7m rope.

Ruffwear have tested the strength of each component and field-tested it with different sized dogs ranging from small pups like Jack Russell Terriers to large dogs like Huskies.

Hardware: anodized 6061-T6 aluminium Crux clip, tension clip, swivel carabiner
Webbing: 15 mm nylon webbing daisy chain

It's just what I wanted and needed. I have a begal hound and so having her stay close by is hard when we doing day trips and stopping for lunch. This is fantastic as I can put it up between two trees and she can go backwards and forwards to sniff and not get in the way. I can sit and relax that she is not going to run off after a scent. She can't chew it so that's a big relief. Look forward to overnight trips to really get the full experience.

Our new favourite thing

Setting this up and taking it down is so easy and quick! We love that our dog is out of the way of camp and people walking by but he has enough space to do some sniffing and exploring so doesn't get bored. Well worth the investment.

Trip

The knot-a-hitch was a lot smaller than I had anticipated, but it works as described. This dog tethering system Is easy to install and easy to take down, allowing my dog to have the freedom to run around and sniff, as much as he wants.

Hi thanks for your question. The Knot-a-Hitch is made from a 7mm Weidan Kernmantle Rope (which is a rope constructed with an interior core and woven exterior sheath which gives it strength and durability). Kernmantle ropes are often used for rock climbing etc. Ruffwear have tested the strength of each component and field tested it extensively with dog's ranging from Jack Russell's to large Husky's (that pull!). It is designed for leashing up one dog while outside.
