Sizing the Ruffwear Front Range Harness

To find the best size of the Front Range Harness for your dog, measure around your dog's girth/chest.   This is around your dog's chest at the widest point.

Graphic showing how to measure around your dog's chest

Dog in-between sizes? Choose the larger size.

Size Dog's Chest/Girth Measure
XXS 33 - 43cm (13-17")
XS 43 - 56cm (17-22")
S 56 - 69cm (22-27")
M 69 - 81cm (27-32")
L/XL 81 - 107cm (32-42")

Have a young dog that is still growing? To figure out what size might be best for your growing pup, hold the tape measure around your dog's chest at the max measure for that size they fit currently.  For example if they currently fit in a size Small (56-69cm), hold the tape measure at 69cm.  This will show you how much 'growth room' that size harness has and also how much the next size up will tighten to.

Please contact us on info@caninespirit.com.au if you have any sizing queries.

Key Features

  • Two leash attachment points (back clip or front clip) - A strong aluminum V-ring centered on the back that's great for everyday walks.  And a reinforced webbing attachment point on the chest that can be used for training by redirecting dogs that pull.
  • Four adjustment points - so the harness securely fits most shapes and sizes.
  • Reflective trim - means that your dog will be more visible in low light conditions and a light loop to attach The Beacon light to boost visibility.
  • Light foam padding for comfort - on the chest and belly make it more comfortable for your dog to wear for long periods and helps minimise the chance of rubbing.
  • Easy to put on/take off - just slip the harness over your dog's head, then clip the 2 side buckles
  • ID Pocket - to store dog tags

Training your dog not to pull?  Here's how the Front Range Harness can help!

The Front Range Harness has a reinforced webbing lead attachment point on the chest that can be used alongside proper training techniques (e.g., voice and reward training techniques) to help deter pulling. The idea behind this is that if a dog pulls too hard when the lead is attached to the chest, it will pull them around towards you (like reins on a horse).  Hence, your dog may learn that pulling does not get them where they want to be. Front range harness

Excellent harness. Cannot rate it highly enough. Fits the border collies (x2) like a glove and does not in any way restrict their running gait or movement. Fantastic in the car too. Easy to use to attach and secure both dogs.

    Its perfect!

I love everything about this harness. My dog is pretty happy to wear it and it's lightweight and makes it so much easer to walk him. He's a kelpie x and tends to be a hurry to get anywhere! It has just made such a difference to our outings. It's perfect!

    High Quality Harness

I've purchased a couple of the Ruffwear Front Range harnesses over the years and have never been disappointed with the build quality or function. Having trying the cheaper alternatives first, only to find that they fall apart or are a very poor fit, it is just not worth it. The size chart was spot on, making it easy to get the correct size online and delivery from Canine Spirt was fast and reliable.

    No more pulling.

My caboodle Willow was always pulling on the lead. Amazingly from the first walk with her new harness she was walking right beside me. 100% happy

    Would definitely buy again

I have a four month old GR who is growing fast. I will definitely buy the same harness when she grows out of this one. It is easy to put on a dog who does not sit still for long and she seems unaware of it once it is on. I love the option to clip the leash on the back or front too.

Gyda is a part-bred Scottish Deer Hound and loves her Ruffwear harness. Very functional, easy to fit and remove, doesn't chaff the dog and easily cleaned. After three years and many km's our first harness has started to show some signs of wear. We now have a new harness on standby. Great products.
