The Ruffwear Front Range Day Pack is the perfect dog pack for days out exploring.   With a comfortable fit similar to the popular Front Range Harness, this pack has an integrated padded harness and belly strap. It also has 5 points of adjustment giving it exceptional fit on most breeds and pack stability.  It has a front loading design which means the saddlebags sit comfortably towards the shoulders in an ergonomic position.

This canine rucksack also has 3 leash attachment options.  There are a V-ring and a tow loop on the back. Plus it has a reinforced webbing loop on the chest that can be used, alongside training techniques, to redirect dogs that may pull on the leash.

There is also a back handle that you can use to help your dog over obstacles and river crossings.

Perfect fit!

Received my day packs and have used them a few times now, they’re a perfect fit (size small, used the measurement guide), the packs are a great size and don’t hang too low to hinder their shoulder movement.

Great product and great service

I got the front range day pack for a multi day trek with my border collie. It worked really well. It fit him comfortably and didn’t rub and we had a great few days in the bush just him and I. We had several strangers stop and ask for photos of him in his cute little backpack. The assistance I got from canine spirit when choosing which pack would be best was that of a small town country store. Very warm and personal and helpful. I’d definitely buy from them again.

Front Range Day Pack

Love the Front Range Day Pack and the size is perfect but I find it very difficult to adjust the straps but maybe they're tight for a reason. An improvement would also be to have reflective strips on the top of the pack also?

My dog can carry his own water now!

We've done a couple of hikes/walks now with increasing load (now 5kg on a 33kg dog) and this pack is brilliant. The L/XL is a great fit on my shepherd with plenty of room for water, booties, poo bags, all the essentials. The material is rugged enough that squeezing between boulders/trees has been no issue so far. Love this product and would recommend, however note that the next size down (M) is only half the capacity.

Great quality and customer service

The back pack is very good quality, and the customer service is great. My dog's chest measurement fell right between two sizes, so I sized up. Unfortunately I momentarily forgot that by dog is big boof with a barrel chest and she ended up looking more turtle-dog than hiking dog. 🐢

Canine Spirit got back to my email quickly and were more than happy to exchange sizes - I can't wait to take my dogs on some walks with her new backpack.

Brilliant

Mackenzie is a kelpie and loves to run.
This pack has been perfect for her. She has even found herself in water and the pack holds up. So far a great piece of dog wear.

Perfect pack

Sunny the Dalmatian is still being conditioned to wearing the pack. It’s something new for him but we’re getting there. We have a pack dog trial coming up and this pack will be perfect

A little smaller than I hoped

I bought it after I measured the lengths for my dog, and I found myself really having to lengthen it to the very end of the straps to get it to fit my dog. I found the packs even though it states 10L was a bit smaller than I hoped for

Linda

I have a 25kg golden retriever. She is a petite girl, what size would be suitable for her? Thank you.

Canine Spirit Australia

Hi, thanks for your question. With her weight I would guess medium - however that would be a guess and she could be a small (highly doubt a large). All the packs are sized on chest measure so if her chest is 69-81cm she would be a medium. If she is smaller than that then you would need to size down. If you don't have a tape measure you could use a piece of string and compare it to a tape measure (or I believe there is a 'ruler' on your mobile phone too). I hope this helps!

Hi
I have a small dog 7kg girth 50cm wondering if the XS dog packs will be small enough for a good fit still. I'm only allowing her to carry 1 kg or less. not sure if the pack will be to big for her. thank you

Canine Spirit Australia

Hi, The XS Front Range Day Pack will be the best size for your pup if her chest is 50cm - the XS will fit 43-56cm chests.
If you are only looking for her to carry 1kg you could look at the Switchbak Harness as it is more streamlined. In XS, the Switchbak has 1.7L capacity compared to the Front Range Pack in XS which has 4.5L - so the Switchbak is about 1/3 the pannier size. You can find that here https://caninespirit.com.au/products/ruffwear-switchbak-dog-harness
Let us know if you have any other questions :)

Emma

Are the buckles and points of adjustment metal or plastic?

Canine Spirit Australia

Hi Emma, The buckles are ITW Nexus Airloc plastic side-release buckles. They don't rust, don't heat up in the sun (which can burn) and are very strong. Let me know if you have any other questions. Many wags!
