Ruffwear Roamer Dog Leash (Bungee) - Hand-Held or Waist-Worn

I am a repeated customer and this is the 4th item I purchased from Ruff Wear. I love this lead so much. It is not too short and not too long. It is convenient to just strap it around my waist and there is a handle at the end to control my dog when in traffic.

Good size pockets even for xs. I can put Hazel’s poop bag, my cards and keys into it. Love the holder. I like it allows plenty of room for my puppy to grow. The only downside is the very front session (shoulder area) does not have enough room to be tightened up for my small whippet’s narrow body. This is very different from other models. Hazel got her front leg stuck through that gap for a few times. Cannot recommend to Italian greyhound owners until there is a smaller size.

I have a 46kg Swiss Shepherd, whose life goals involve going wherever as fast as possible.
I bought the long one. I it is great for letting him sniff and explore. I already have a Mission Wild waist belt, so the lead is at its full length and the middle often touches the ground (I got the long one). If there is a reason to get to your dog quickly 3.4m is a lot of lead to pull in. There is more than 1m of stretch in the long one while it is great for the dog to roam it means no control.
I like the traffic handle (and think it is a requirement for all leads), however I have the Ruffwear singletrak which has a handle on the back. I have added a 7mm Delta Maillon as a front clip point on my Ruffwear harness, to which I have added the Ezydog Zero shock extension this then is clipped to the Ezydog mongrel handle, while we are walking through town, when we hit the track the mongrel clips to the top/shoulder attachment point making a easy to grap lead that is connected to the front of the harness (so more control) but out of the way when running.
I clip the Ruffwear roamer to the top attachment point so that he doesn't trip over it.
We have a no pull Rule (ha ha) when clipped to the front and a have fun rule when clipped to the top.

We absolutely love this lead!! With a family all into their running and an active border collie this lead has been the perfect problem solver in how to keep good running technique and arm movement whilst allowing our dog to remain on leash. The medium length has worked well for us, allowing our dog to run beside us without getting tangled in the lead. The waist band adjusts between myself and my husband but my young daughter who is also a runner.

Customer support is also amazing, having promptly replied to all emails and resolved any queries.

Great leash! It is super-helpful for my dog as she feels it gradually tightening so she has time to remember to walk nicely. She’s just a big puppy still and it really helps her (and my arm) to have that extra time to remember that the leash connects us and shouldn’t be pulled taught.

Items are designed to tailor with other Ruffwear products (so there is a provided loop specifically to fit our dog-daughter's night-time safety light, already on the harness back)
Connection of the lead to the harness is not just a carabiner, but a compression-design. This is easier to use if you have sore hand joints, or one handed (if you are wrangling a pup who is pulling in excitement to start her walk)
The colour co-ordination of the leads and harnesses is adorable - love it.

With her light & an artificial flower tucked through her harness, she’s dressed, comfortable, safe, and constantly gets compliments on being gorgeous.

I bought this to run with my 2yo jack russell who also loves a sniff. I wanted him to have a bit of length to the lead.

This lead is great, very easy to use around the waist or hand held. It's strong, the "bungee" is just enough that we get jerked around by each others' movements but it's also easy to hold him when he's pulling like a mad think to chase something.

The only issue is that it bounces around a lot when running and he's out in front, which is annoying - most likely due to the length, so I question whether I should have bought the slightly shorter one. Love the lead though and would definitely recommend it.

Dynamic, flexible, prevents lead tension & relieves the owner of pulling. This isn't our first bungee style lead, however from our experience it is by far the most durable brand on the market.

Excellent leash for running. Still have the first one after four years of daily use. Very well made and durable. Best part is the clip which endures sand and ocean easy! Doesn’t jam doesn’t corrode. Got a 32kg Amstaff x Kelpie and it’s the best leash for us hands down.

I like this, works well, although my doggo needs a little training to make it work better

We have two boxers that we cannot walk off-lead and pull like crazy. These leads are fantastic at letting them move a little but stopping their whip-lash pulling. Unlike other control leads, the control handle is also right by their collar - as we need it -as short as possible.

Great product. The bungy prevents jerks on the leash. The metal clip to the harness is sturdy & strong.
The handle clip on one of the leashes broke. The length adjustment slips & I feel should be located away from the plastic clips. It placed pressure on the plastic bar.
For such an expensive piece of kit a couple of improvements could be incorporated. A seat belt tongue. A chest front harness clip to prevent smart dogs from pulling out of the harness. Plus a soft grip to the close hand traffic hold.

I love the idea of taking my dog when I run, but the reality is never as good as I imagined. Wearing the bungee dog leash around my waist and using the front harness has made running with my bestie so easy. I could never look back.

Have tried several waist leads for running with my dog and they have never fit my waist properly. This one is brilliant, was able to adjust to fit perfectly and it’s super comfortable to run with. Love it

I love the Roamer leads and also the Web Master harnesses I got. It’s much nicer for me and the dogs using these leads much more gentle when I need to redirect them. They're lovely.

This is a very nice lead for the right dog. My dog is a Swiss Shepard and he’s likes this lead more than I do. I usually use a lovely leather lead, and he’s reasonably well trained. With this lead, he “pulls” through as with a portion of the lead elastic. I purchased it to try and train his running beside a bike. I really think I will come off second best as I believe he’ll “pull” through. I would recommend it, just not for my dog.

I’m hooked on Ruffwear since I was introduced by a friend. I have purchased this leash and other items from Ruffwear for my Gage resulting in his happiness to wear the product, durability and style of the each of the products. Overall, the Ruffwear Roamer Bungee Dog Leash is very good quality for my Labrador. It is easy to use and clean. I feel safe that the product is quality and that this leash will not break or compromise the safety of my dog when we are out jogging/walking. I think it’s good.

I chose the shorter leash so I didn’t trip on it when I ran with my whippet and it was a good choice. The chip is a little heavy for my 9kg dog but it still works.

This lead is brilliant! I’m now hands free and no longer having my arm pulled out if it’s socket! We have a muscular 40plus kilo mastiff cross and she can pull hard but this stretch allows correction without the yank on us. The shorter hand leash close to body is perfect too. We love it! Hands free is the way to go and I never knew it till now 🥳

I love this leash as it has one of the best clips on it that I have ever come across. The fact that it can be on the waist or hand is great, very versatile. The bungee leash has really helped with the training of my dog (hound) to not pull. That little pull on the leash and she knows that she's at the end and needs to stop or slow down to walk nicely. A good solid leash . Very comfortable to use.
