How to Choose the Best Size of the Ruffwear Knot-a-Leash

It is available in 2 sizes - both are 1.5m (5ft) long and both are very strong. The difference between the sizes is in the width of rope & size of carabiner:

Small - 7mm diameter rope & 1.5m long. **This size is still super strong and we find it best for smaller breeds!
Large - 11 mm diameter rope & 1.5m long

Love these leashes for our Labrador retrievers - very sturdy with comfortable hand grip & the carabiner with locking mechanism means no worries about coming undone. Great for our everyday walks & a good length for loose leash walking as well as control.
Looks great with the front harness in same colour. Works well for our 7 month old pup as well as the fully grown lab. Highly recommend.

Good quality lead

Good quality lead and a good length. I use this on my Golden Retriever and he also has the matching colour in the harness and collar. The clip/carabiner is a bit big but doesn't compromise functionality.

Great rope dog lead, I have the same ruff wear dog lead lead that is 9yrs old and still going strong i just needed another one.

It has a really nice feel to it & Im glad I ordered the large one though wish it had a slightly smaller clip. There is also no swivel if your dog spins a lot. Very sturdy & strong & a pleasure to hold. Well tested when little miss took of as a rabbit flew across our path, incredibly easy to hold onto and didn’t slip at all. Will buy again!

Great Harness

This harness is a great addition to our walking gear, and securely fits our Greyhound. She doesn't pull as much while wearing and the rope lead provides us with confidence she will be secure, happy, and is strong.

Bit disappointed

Really fun leash but two problems with it unfortunately. The first is leash isn’t very soft and can be prone to rope burn. The other (and biggest issue) is it didn’t hold up to even 12 months. The rope external casing tore.

Great Lead

We love this lead, comfortable handle and it is a good length. We have 2 x German Shepherds who can be pullers and I always had issue with other leads causing blisters on my hand but not this one. Highly recommend.

What size of this lead would be best for a male whippet of about 15kg please? He does take off after birds suddenly sometimes!

Hi Holly, Both sizes of the Knot-a-Leash are very strong and have locking karabiners. For small dogs we normally recommend the smaller size only because it has a smaller karabiner which is less bulky. I personally prefer the small size, but think you'd be happy with either size.
