Sizing the Ruffwear Front Range Dog Harness

Measure around your dog's girth/chest (i.e., around your dog's chest at the widest point).

Graphic showing how to measure around your dog's chest

Dog in-between sizes? Choose the larger size.

Size Dog's Chest/Girth Measure
XXS 33 - 43cm (13-17")
XS 43 - 56cm (17-22")
S 56 - 69cm (22-27")
M 69 - 81cm (27-32")
L/XL 81 - 107cm (32-42")

Have a young dog/puppy that is still growing?  To help work out what size might be best for your growing pup:

  1. Hold the tape measure around your dog's chest at the max measure for the size they fit currently.  E.g., if your pup currently sits in a size Small (56-69cm), then hold the tape measure around their chest at 69cm.
  2. This will show you how much 'growth room' that size harness has, but also will show you how much the next size up will tighten to.

Please contact us on info@caninespirit.com.au if you have any sizing queries.

Key Features

  • Two leash attachment points (back clip & front clip) - A strong aluminum V-ring centered on the back for everyday walks.  Plus a reinforced webbing attachment point on the chest can be used for training by redirecting dogs that pull.
  • Four adjustment points - so harness securely fits most shapes & sizes.
  • Reflective trim - your dog will be more visible in low light conditions. Also a light loop to attach The Beacon light to boost visibility.
  • Light foam padding for comfort - on the chest & belly make it comfortable for your dog to wear for long periods & minimises the chance of rubbing.
  • Easy to put on/take off - just slip the harness over your dog's head, then clip the 2 side buckles
  • ID Pocket - to store dog tags

Training your dog not to pull?  Here's how the Front Range Harness can help!

The Front Range Harness has a reinforced webbing lead attachment point on the chest that can be used alongside proper training techniques (e.g., voice and reward training techniques) to help deter pulling. The idea behind this is that if a dog pulls too hard when the lead is attached to the chest, it will pull them around towards you (like reins on a horse).  Hence, your dog may learn that pulling does not get them where they want to be. Great harness, easy to slip on and off

My Welsh Springer is recovering from hindlimb orthopaedic surgery and the harness is excellent as it slips over his head then the chest straps are simply clipped in place without any need for him to lift his legs. Good control with back attachment but also the option to use the front attachment

    Fitting and Rugged.

Bought the medium size for our groodle Max. it fits him well and doesn't restrict his movement. I would love if it had a removable harness handle. I've made one out of paracord but I think having one built in would be a nice touch. The corral colour looks cool :)

Well made and well thought out

The harness is flexible and seems comfortable, the design allows for a spread of any force rather than putting pressure on the front of the neck, and I particularly appreciate the material extending beneath the clips so I can snap them closed without catching my dog’s very fine fur in them, or my fingers!

I always get asked what they are and where to get them! They are the best!

I have a tribe of Aussies Shepherds & these fit them all really well, super easy 2 put on/off no matter what size my Aussies are and I won't use anything else.

Ruffwear Front Range Dog Harness (2024 Colours)

Great product very well made bought the same harness 6yrs ago for our staffy Spud and would have lasted probably for another 6 if it wasn't for my neighbours puppy who chewed up the plastic clips on it in the back of our car on a journey to the beach.lol

    Repeat purchase, super happy

We just bought a new harness for our Labrador (size M) from the 2024 range, having previously been so impressed with the same harness from a few years ago that has has daily wear, a lot of machine washes and had only just started to show some minor signs of wear after about 3 years. The metal clip still looks brand new as well.
We chose the red colour for the new harness which we think looks stunning on our black Lab. We will also keep using our old one as a spare.

    Front range harness

Excellent harness. Cannot rate it highly enough. Fits the border collies (x2) like a glove and does not in any way restrict their running gait or movement. Fantastic in the car too. Easy to use to attach and secure both dogs.
