Hitch Hiker Leash - Portable Hitch & Leash Combo

The Ruffwear Hitch Hiker Leash will your new go-to leash whether you're out for a day exploring around town or heading out on back-country adventures.  With 3.65m of rope to work with, you can easily slide the rope through a specially designed HitchLock rope adjuster and ‘brake’ it (set it) at any length - from long line to short lead and everything in between. 

The Hitch Hiker will arrive with the rope zipped inside a durable, ballistic nylon stow bag.  There is an adjustable strap on the back of the stow bag that has a side release.  This strap can:

• be tightened to be used as a handle for a hand-held leash or, 
• extended to be clipped around your waist or around an object like a tree, a post or a chair, etc.   
  *(You can store the extra strap in the rear pocket of the Hitch Hiker).

How Does the Hitch Hiker Leash Work

The easiest way to see how the leash works is to watch the video below (or see tips below):

• Unzip the stow bag to find the 12 ft of kernmantle rope.  On its end is a lockable Crux Clip to attach it to your dog’s collar or harness.
• On the rope is also an ergonomically designed HitchLock rope adjuster which you can smoothly glide along the rope to adjust its length. 
• The HitchLock adjuster works like climbing gear:
  • To let out rock you can easily adjusts the length by pressing the button using your thumb. 
  • To bring the rope back in, take in the slack with your hand and without having your finger on the button.
• Whatever length you set, the HitchLock adjuster will act as a brake, only allowing that length when under tension.

Care

Hand wash with mild detergent.  Air dry only.
