To find the best size Swamp Cooler Dog Vest/Coat for your dog:
Measure around your dog's girth/chest at the widest point behind their front legs.
Measure snugly but not tight.
The vest does not need to go all the way to the tail as the majority of cooling is around the chest.
Is your dog's chest 'exactly' on the border between sizes and a stable weight/fully grown? If so, Ruffwear recommends sizing up for a relaxed fit or down for a snug fit. You can also check the neck measure.

The Swamp Cooler by Ruffwear is great for dogs that enjoy hiking, biking, running or walking in the heat, playing on the beach, boating or participating in agility trials or dog shows!
The Swamp Cooler dog vest provides maximum cooling through evaporation & heat reflection. Just soak the dog coat in cool water, wring out the excess and it is ready to put on your dog.
The Swamp Cooler will keep your dog cool for up to a few hours but this depends on how hot it is and the humidity levels. With dry, hot Aussie summer temperatures, it will probably last around 45min-1hr. When it dries, just re-soak with your water bottle or a tap. Or get your dog to walk in water. This will 'recharge' the cooling.
Recent updates: Updated external air mesh for improved abrasion resistance and improved water absorption: the new design retains more water in high exposure zones on the vest for a longer charge.
There is also an integrated leash portal which allows you to put the Swamp Cooler over harnesses that have a back clip (Hi & Light, Flagline, Front Range or Web Master Harness.)
Sizing the Ruffwear Swamp Cooler Dog Vest
The Swamp Cooler is available in 6 sizes and should have a relaxed, loose fit. Note, it is not essential for it to go all the way to the base of the tail as the majority of cooling will be around the chest.
To size, measure around your dog's girth (the circumference) at the widest part of the chest and right behind the front legs. You can also measure the neck as the neck on the coat is not adjustable.
Sizes should be selected based on Chest Measure first.

How to Use the Swamp Cooler
Care
Secure fasteners and wash in cold water with the gentle cycle and mild detergent. Hang dry only. Do not bleach, iron or dry clean.
We do a lot of dog sports I have tried different cool coats and this one is far the best we have used keeps him cool though out the hot days very easy to use will be buying another one for my other dog

My dog doesn’t do well in the heat especially when he has a dark coat and being outside under the shade doesn’t help. After putting on the cooler vest soaked with water it helped a lot, he wasn’t panting as much and breathing was steady

My irish terrier loves this cooling vest. It works well by evaporation but dosnt leave the coat wet like some other brands. Its fits so well, even under a harness.

Swamp Cooler - Cooling Vest
Got the cooling vest for my Border Collie to help with evening walks in Queensland heat.
On the days I can use it (evaporative cooling doesn't really work above 70% humidity) it really seems to help her.
At the same time I got a new vest from Canine spirit (roughware) and like that their is a spot to thread the harness leash clip to.
Would love if the cooling vest had a similar slot on the chest to allow the same for the front harness clip

Great cooling vest
I got 2 of the Swamp Cooler - Cooling Dog Vest for my 2 mini dachshunds and they work really well. The vests keep them nice an cool on walks or just when it's extra hot and no air con. I've used ruffwear products before for my mini dachshunds using their float coats (which are fantastic). The sizing for the float coats was the same for the vests and they fit really well. The sizing charts are very helpful, and so where the staff at Canine Spirit. It fits their chest well, and isn't too short on their long bodies. The service at Canine Spirit was amazing answered emails very quickly, and the shipping was exceptional especially at Christmas time. Would recommend this product and company
The front harness is great for our kelpie. We are enjoying the ease of putting it off and on and the comfort for our regular leash walks. Also great for training and reinforcing no pulling for an active dog

I've been using this bag when trail walking with my two greyhounds and it's fantastic! No smell. I don't have to manage carrying two or more poo bags with two dogs anymore. It's excellent quality and works great!
Fits our samoyed x golden retriever really well, he has quite a deep chest and the coat fits snugly with some room to lengthen the straps if needed. Only had to use it once so far but feels well made and kept him dry.
