The Ruffwear Commuter Pack - a rucksack-inspired dog pack that not only looks great with clean, traditional design, but is also practical and full of features!
Perfectly trendy for urban adventures and cafe & market visits, yet rugged enough for day hikes and overnight camp trips.
The versatile Commuter Pack is made from durable 900D heathered polyester and has water-resistant leather trim. The side zipped panniers have internal mesh pockets and share similar capacity to the Approach Pack. Plus, each side has smaller, easy-access side stash pockets for often used items.
The Commuter Pack is available in 4 sizes and 2 trendy colours - Cloudburst Grey or Larkspur Purple. Scroll down the page for sizing instructions.
Other key features include:
Integrated Harness - the comfortable harness, with padded belly straps, is easy to fit on your dog with 2 side release buckles (just slip the pack over the head and clip the side buckles). To help ensure a custom fit on your dog, the harness has 4 adjustment points (2 at the neck and 2 on the side).
Three Lead Attachment Points - this gives you choice on where to attach the dog leash. Firstly there is a anodised aluminium V-ring in front of the back handle. Plus two strong webbing loops - one further back on the pack and another at the front centre of the harness (which can be used to help deter dogs pulling).
Padded Back Handle - with leather accents, allows you to help your dog over obstacles
Weight Forward Saddlebags - these are ergonomically designed to help ensure more efficient load carry for your dog.
Reflective Trim - down the sides of the pack ensure your dog is more visible in low light conditions.
To determine the best size for your dog, measure around your dog's girth/chest - just behind your dog's front legs - then compare it to the chart below. Be sure to measure around the widest part of your dog's chest (measure around it just like you were measuring around your own chest). Click here for a video on how to measure your dog's chest.
It is important for the pack to fit snug.
Just like with saddlebags on a horse the pack should fit snugly so it stays stable and doesn't shift and rub. Do not size up just to get extra capacity - always size by the chest measure.
* PLEASE NOTE: it is not recommended that your dog carry more than 20% of their body weight in their dog pack. If your dog is new to dog packs, start with an empty bag and gradually work up to a heavier load as your dog gets accustomed to wearing the pack.
